Chapter One
What is it?
“Hey! Lucky! Wait up!” I flattened my ears and cursed myself for being so careless as two young toms greeted me, their eyes bright and their tails high, well, almost. They must have ran right past me in their hurry to greet me this morning, because they had managed to be behind me when their den was still a ways up ahead.
“Yes, Curly, Bobby?” I mewed, keeping my pace even as I padded near the fences, trying to use their shade to protect my spine from the sun, but as it was Sunhigh, the shade was either little, or in the garden cats for the bell necks to lounge in.
“What are you going to do today?” Curly asked, his tail, which curled at the end in a small spiral, (which looked painful but he never complained about it) was raised as high as it could be and waved slightly as he walked.
I tried to think of something uninteresting, but I could only think of the sun as I answered, “I’m going to sun myself.” I myself a nod, that seemed boring enough, and once they were gone, I could go find some shade.
“Can we come with you?” Bobby asked, his tail might have been raised high, well, if he had a tail, that is.
“I don’t know, won’t your mothers, or No furs be mad?” I asked, trying to think of excuses.
“We share the same mother, and, our No furs don’t know anything really.” Curly mewed, he looked to his brother and they both gave a matter of fact nod to one another. I gave a small sigh, these two have been bothering me since I first moved here.
“I just want to be alone today, okay?” I mewed, a slight edge in my voice. They shared a sad look, and nodded, walking slower, but still in the same direction, we hadn’t passed their home yet. I gave a small hiss, “Fine, I guess you two can come with me.” I mewed, they lit up, and joined my sides once more. I zoned out of their nonsense chatter, I found that nothing they said contributed toward my life and well-being, so I found it easier to ignore them than to learn what type of new food their No furs were feeding them, I walked toward my usual haunts with my shadows, catching a word every now and again, most of it summing up to the fact that they were… “Bell-necks.” I murmured to myself, with a shake of my head.
Their conversation ended abruptly, “Huh?” They asked curiously.
“It’s nothing, I was just thinking about something you said the other day.” I mewed, speaking louder than normal, Curly opened his mouth to ask a question when a small head poked up to look over the fence above us. Bobby froze and glared at the small cheerful face, realizing what had happened, I had purposefully walked by their house.
“Hello Lucky! Curly, Bobby! Mama! Curly and Bobby are back!”Chewy mewed, his high-pitched voice stinging my ears, but was a relief to hear after their incessant meowing.
Another, much bigger and rounder head poked up from the fence, her pretty tabby face gave her the name Tabby, “Curly! Bobby! Did I tell you, you could leave?” She asked sternly, her eyes narrowed, but the look didn’t suit her face, and made her look somewhat happy.
“No, Mama…” Both toms mumbled, shuffling their paws in the dirt.
“Then get over here now, say goodbye to Lucky.” She snapped.
“Bye Lucky, we’ll see you later, hopefully.” Curly mewed, jumping the fence, Bobby gave me a nod, but his eyes weren’t as friendly as his brother’s. I gave a small smile to myself, free to listen to the forest as I walked along its shady dappled floor, my tail raised high, and my paws cool and confident as I stepped through the underbrush. I heard a small mew as I passed a small bramble bush, I stopped, my ears pricked, when I heard it again, I looked closer and saw a small gray shape tangled in the thorns, leaves matting the kit’s fur.
“Hello?” I mewed carefully.
“He-hello.” She mewed back shyly.
“Do you need something?” I tilted my head stupidly.
“Can yo help me out of here?” she mewed, her eyes wide with worry.
“I can try.” I mewed, I looked around the bush for an easy way to get her out, but there was none, sighing, I pushed the brambles back carefully, wincing as it snagged my long fur and when the thorns pierced the kit’s fur. When the branches had moved enough for me to reach in, I worked on freeing her, she let out small mews as the brambles tugged her fur and scratched her skin, but soon she was free.
We both rested, she was panting, her chest heaving as she calmed down enough to speak, “Thank you.” She mewed.
“It’s no problem, do you need anything else?” I asked, hoping she’d say no.
“Yes, I-I, I don’t know how to get home! Can you please help me?” She mewed forlornly.
“Well, where do you live?” I sighed, standing up. She shrugs, but looks behind her into the towering forest, she points to its heart with her tail, somewhat uncertainly, when she looks up at me, her eyes are filled with despair.
“Ok, I’ll help you home.” I purred soothingly and picked the kit up by her scruff, I craned my neck so she could rest on my back, she settled down, balancing until she found a comfortable and safe place to stay while I walked. After a while, I became bored, for once, longing for some type of conversation, even if it was from a kit, “I’m Lucky.” I said.
“I’m Finchkit.” She mewed; I felt her stir, realizing she must be tired. I walked through the forest in silence, trying to go in the direction she had pointed, though, how accurate that was, I don’t know. After a while I began to wonder where I was.
“How did you manage to walk so far?” I asked after a long while, my paws starting to ache.
“I don’t know, I was following a fox, I think, and I got lost, and turned around. So I tried to turn around and run, but I got even more lost, and I wandered around, but now I’m so hungry, and I can’t walk anymore.” She mewed, there was a sad note to her voice and I nodded.
“Well, I’ll get you home.” I promised, feeling energy flow through my veins again.
“Hey! Lucky, wait up!” I almost froze as Curly’s voice rang through the air, but I heard three sets of cats following me, and I groaned, Finchkit became restless, her tiny claws pricking my skin like bramble thorns.
“What are you doing here?” I hissed, annoyed, as Curly and Bobby and Chewy joined my sides.
“Who’s that?” Chewy asked ignoring my question, pointing at the kit on my shoulders.
“Her name is Finchkit, shouldn’t you be home, with your mothers?” I asked hopefully.
“They said we could leave.” Chewy mewed cheerfully.
I gave a small hiss, “Fine, if you’re going to follow be quiet, okay? Who knows what lives in this place.” I mewed quietly, Chewy’s fur bristled.
“I have to go back, the housefolk have food they wanted to give me, I think.” Chewy mewed, racing back home.
I padded forward, suddenly pausing, Curly and Bobby stopped and looked at me. I flicked my ears, with my jaws partly open, I searched for a scent, but I could only detect the sweet scents of the forest, the small trace of cat I found, I couldn’t pinpoint, so I flicked my tail for my companions to be careful. We padded forward, my fur prickling as I felt eyes burn into my pelt. There was a sudden yowl and I felt the wind rush from my chest as a cat slammed into my side.
“We don’t allow rogues here, you mangy flea pelt!”  One yowled, and bit my leg. I let out a yowl of surprise and lashed out with a hiss, he let go and I scrambled up the tree behind me, I got to the third branch when I realized I had dropped Finchkit, one of the cats was approaching her, so I dropped down, landing over her, and hissed. He growled raising a paw to swat me away, when a large white and gold she-cat with a commanding air about her raced into the clearing. She approached me slowly, moving without a whisper of sound, and looked down at me, another she-cat appeared and stood beside her, the tom stood on her other side, towering over me.
“Why are you trespassing on Leaf Tribe land?” The large she-cat hissed, her eyes were narrowed and furious.
“None of your business.” I growled, I felt Finchkit squirm underneath me and I felt fear well in the pit of my stomach. The large she-cat hissed and raised a large paw toward me, but she stopped as I felt Finchkit free herself. I hissed and moved myself over the kit, my eyes blazed.
The large she-cat had a curious expression her face; the long-legged tom gave her a glance, “Lilyspirit, what’s wrong?” He mewed.
“You… you found her… You found Finchkit!” the large she-cat mewed excitedly.
“Do you know them?” I asked Finchkit.
“I don’t know, but I think so…” Finchkit mewed, and wriggled away from me, looking at Lilyspirit.
“Lilyspirit! We found her; Whitespirit threatened to attack us soon, we can give her back!” the tom purred.
“Thank you.” Lilyspirit mewed and picked Finchkit up, they disappeared, the two holding Curly and Bobby down calmly padded after them, leaving them to catch their breath and look at me, lost and confused.
“We have to go.” Bobby muttered, the two limped home, their scratches were not serious. I nodded vaguely to them mumbled some goodbyes. I sat there for a while in stunned silence until the half moon was high in the sky and the stars were glittering fiercely. I looked up at the stars as I stood up, standing and stretching before I shrugged and walked home.
This is Chapter one of Wild Cat, originally Lucky was Violet, but since Tabby, Blackberry, Curly, Bobby, and Chewy were all my real cats, Tabby is even my profile pic, and all there names end with a 'y', (all by coincidence, my mom had three cats named Kitty, Snowy, and Frosty.) Unfortunately though, Bobby and Chewy ran away, but Tabby and Blackberry live with my Grandmother, and they look so much like them, I thought this is what it would be like if they were related, enjoy! The picture is of my cat Curly.

<Note:> Again I revised this today, you'll notice changes in dialogue and scenarios, thoughts, and descriptive imagery.
Fun Fact: My real cat Curly is actually not that friendly and hates everyone but me. I constantly fear that someone will say that this story seems too close to the original, the way the plot goes.
